When art and words merged: The First Story – The Falls No.1

Last summer, I partnered with Jim Inzero to craft a series combining his paintings and my writings – all originals. We showcased the Unbound collection in Cape May, but unfortunately I wound up with COVID and didn’t get a chance to visit the gallery. I often look back on that partnership and think that it personally felt like some of my best work, so now over the next few months, I’ll share the stories and their paired artwork.

He walked with his two young daughters toward the cauldron, where the falls meet the river’s edge and shiny rocks peek out from under the froth. The girls bantered about the itchy weeds and the pesky flies and about the unseen bears, their thin trout rods slung over their shoulders. A chirping cardinal grabbed his attention and for a while he only heard the bird singing out, exclaiming its presence to all on the trail. The girls excitedly chatted about the big fish they’d catch and he listened to them in all their beautiful naïveté.
